Job Description: We are seeking a dedicated and passionate SEND Science Teacher to join our team starting September 2023. As a SEND Science Teacher, you will have the opportunity to work with small groups of students who have diverse needs, including dyslexia, dyscalculia, PSD (Pervasive Developmental Disorders), and more. Your role will involve supporting and guiding these students in their scientific education, while also fostering their character development, confidence, and resilience.

As a SEND Science Teacher, you will contribute to this mission by delivering a curriculum that meets the needs, interests, and abilities of all students.
Responsibilities:
- Teach science to small groups of students with diverse needs, including dyslexia, dyscalculia, PSD, and other learning challenges.
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons that align with the National Curriculum and cater to the individual abilities and potential of students.
- Adapt teaching strategies and materials to accommodate various learning styles and provide additional support to students who require it.
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes independence, confidence, and resilience.
- Use a range of assessment methods to evaluate students’ progress and provide constructive feedback to facilitate their growth.
- Collaborate with other teachers and support staff to develop individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special educational needs.
- Utilize the school’s onsite facilities, such as the sports hall, Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA), gym, and sensory room, to enhance the learning experience and meet the specific needs of students.
- Stay up to date with scientific advancements and educational best practices, continuously enhancing your own subject knowledge and teaching skills.
Requirements:
- Qualified teacher status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Experience teaching science, preferably within a SEND setting. Newly qualified teachers (ECTs) with a strong science background are also encouraged to apply.
- Knowledge of various learning difficulties and strategies to support students with SEND.
- Ability to differentiate instruction and adapt teaching methods to meet individual students’ needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Passion for character development and promoting the holistic growth of students.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and a reflective approach to teaching.
- Relevant subject knowledge and a desire to inspire students to explore the wonders of science.
