Responsibilities: Teaching opportunities from Key Stage 3 to A Level, depending on experience.
Curriculum: We offer a diverse and inspiring curriculum to provide students with a challenging experience. All students study English Language and English Literature up to GCSE level, with around three hours of weekly lessons. Drama is taught as a separate module in Year 8. Students prepare for end-of-year examinations or mock exams.
Co-Curricular Activities: We have a thriving society that organizes visits to theaters, cinemas, ballets, and operas. Students have guaranteed outings per year. We also arrange visits to relevant performances, including those related to examination set texts. We participate in public speaking competitions and run a weekly debating society. Additionally, we have a poetry and arts club. Our department provides support outside of class and maintains an open-door policy.
Library: We have a well-stocked Library serving the school community. English teachers introduce students to the Library through a short course. Year 7 and 8 students follow an Accelerated Reader program to promote reading habits. English teachers have one timetabled Library lesson per week with their Year 7 and 8 classes.
