We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Art teacher to join our 11-16 school in Portsmouth from September 2023. This position is open to Early Career Teachers (ECT) specializing in Art/Design. We are looking for a specialist Art teacher with strong subject knowledge who is willing to work across the Design curriculum. The successful candidate will be passionate about inspiring students to achieve their potential and will take joy in witnessing their students experience the thrill of success in their learning every day.
Portsmouth is a coastal city with excellent transport links to London, offering a range of attractions for residents to enjoy. The nearby Gunwharf Quays shopping area provides opportunities for leisure activities and exploration.
The Design department in our school is highly regarded, and our students excel in terms of performance, enjoyment of their learning, and preparation for their future lives. The department consists of six specialist teaching rooms, all well-equipped to facilitate the delivery of a diverse and exciting curriculum. Notably, we have two main art rooms that include a kiln, darkroom, and photography equipment.
In Years 7 and 8, students participate in a carousel of art, textiles, 3D, and food in their Design lessons. In Year 9, students have the opportunity to choose from a range of Design subjects, including Food & Nutrition, alongside two other options. At KS4, Design remains a popular choice, with students being able to select from Fine Art, Textiles, 3D Art & Design, Graphics, Photography, and Food & Nutrition.
The Design department is led by a supportive Curriculum Director and is backed by an excellent team of teachers and technicians. As the successful candidate, you will be joining a well-established department and becoming part of an innovative team of teachers who enjoy collaborating together.
